As pro-Ouattara forces sweep across the country (they now control 80% of it), French forces have taken control of the Abidjan airport to ensure it remains open. It is estimated around 1,00 innocent people have been slaughtered by unknown forces.

In what is shaping up to be a full-blown civil war, forces loyal to Alassane Ouattara, the internationally recognized president, have taken the western town of Duekoue, which was previously held by Laurent Gbagbo, the incumbent refusing to accept internationally recognized election results.
Please do not let Japan and Libya overshadow this conflict. Terrible things are happening here.

The situation continues to worsen in Cote d’Ivoire as 700,000-1,000,000 fearing civil war. Fighting is raging between the two factions, one belonging to the largely recognized as illegitimate president, Laurent Gbagbo, and the internationally supported winner of the recent election, Alassane Ouattara. Just so everyone is clear: 1,000,000 is HUGE number of displaced.

More deaths in Cote d’Ivoire as rival factions between two disputed presidents, Gbagbo and Ouattara seize control of towns, set up check-points, and skirmish.
